Dvorak’s intensely moving Stabat Mater was the chosen work for our annual performance on Saturday 22nd February 2014

The concert also saw the inauguration of the Oxford Orpheus Orchestra to accompany the Oxford Orpheus Choir. We had an exciting line up of soloists for the concert who were Anna Jeruc-Kopec (soprano) Clare Presland (mezzo-soprano) Andrew Goodwin (tenor) and Ashley Riches (bass-baritone). All these young artists are rising stars associated with major opera companies both in the UK and abroad.

All proceeds went to the Neuroscience Department at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford to support their innovative and ground-breaking work for patients with Motor Neurone Disease, Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, Multiple System Atrophy, CBD, Parkinsons Disease and Multiple Sclerosis. These are no longer rare diseases – most of us know someone with one of these conditions.
